Stuart Park
St. Mary
In 1977
the Victoria Park in Port Maria, St. Mary was renamed the
Claude Stuart Park. It was named in honour of Claude Stuart
a former Member of Parliament for St. Mary (1955-1962) and
Minister of Health (1955-1959).
In the
Park is a Cenotaph commemorating the victims of World War
1 & 2, the monument in honour of Tacky, the rebel slave who
led the Slave Rebellion of 1760, and Sir Charles Price, member
of the House of Assembly of Jamaica for St. Mary 1756-1761
and speaker in 1746, and 1756 to 1763.
